August 14th
Hi Chris,
I've just stumbled upon your society's website. I live in a village just South of Bristol, (1 hour drive from Gloucester), called Clutton, (www.clutton.org.uk <http://www.clutton.org.uk/>). Every year in August we put on a 'village day' which is organised and run by our local horticultural society. In order to maximise interest from all members of our community, we always strive to invite organisations who will undoubtably add a different dimension to our event. Each year we attract a number of vintage tractors, who all compete for the 'Best Tractor in Show Award', along with a small number of classic cars and motorbikes, dog agility displays etc. etc. In previous years we have been fortunate enough to have hosted a large contingency from the Wessex Stationary Engine Club. The show is always very well supported locally, with the centrepiece being a large marquis crammed full of locally grown produce, floral displays, arts and crafts etc.
The show this year is on Saturday August 14th, officially beginning at 2pm, although, generally speaking there are people there drinking tea and eating bacon sandwiches all day! It would be an absolute delight if I could somehow persuade you to bring along a number of exhibits from your organisation. I would be very happy to personally contribute towards any costs which will undoubtably be incurred. Camping is available in the field for those wishing to make a weekend of it.
In the evening, in the main marquis, there will be a cabaret act, with a singer, a comedian and an impressionist. You will, of course be made very welcome if you'd like to take advantage.
If you'd like further information, please call me on 01761 453131, (days), or 01761 453920, (eves.), or email to the above address. I very much look forward to hearing from you.
Best Regards,
David Phillips
